An Anthem is by which a community is known; that with which people identify with one’s country, team and mission

The term has evolved to mean a song of celebration, usually acting as a symbol for a certain group of people. An Anthem is best when made for the people by the people capturing common sentiment, values and spirit which bind people together as a team.
‘A national anthem is a generally patriotic musical composition that evokes and eulogizes the history, traditions and struggles of its people, recognized either by a country's government as the official national song, or by convention through use by the people’.
I had an experience which I hold close to my heart. We had visited Tezpur, Assam for a workshop with WWF. During our stay we were invited to visit a certain international school. Both parties i.e. the school and us were keen to facilitate a school anthem. The headmaster of the school, a young gentleman, stood up from his chair every time he shared lines of the anthem of the school where he studied.
The anthem was so deep rooted and the sense of belongingness was so intense that the respect for the anthem came as a part of the gentleman’s nature.
Now another experience which I wish not to forget as the outcome is an example I share with many during various programmes. This was sometime back in 2004 when I used to visit a certain school as a consultant for music.
