New Delhi: "Present-day education should not only aim at empowerment of people in every sphere of life but at the same time, it should address the needs of the market," Singh said inaugurating a three-day conference focusing on the education sector.
"Investment in education sector today gives huge returns. It is considered the most profitable business. As private players charge exorbitant fees, they should aim at tapping talents that perish when unable to meet the requisite demands," he said.
Singh also emphasised the need for quality teachers, saying only they can bring about innovation in the field of education.
He said as the basis of higher education lies in elementary education, this year the Government will focus on hiring more trained teachers.
Singh was inaugurating a three-day conference 'EDGE-2008' wherein industry experts from private and government sectors would provide solutions to the challenges faced by the education industry.
