Indian Army medical college to begin MBBS course

Affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, the 100-seat ACMS has been established under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES).
New Delhi: A newly established Army College of Medical Sciences (ACMS) here is to commence its first MBBS course later this year.
 
This college is meant for children of army personnel, including Short Service Commission officers, who have served at least for 10 years. Children of officers from the Army Medical Corps and the Army Dental Corps currently serving in the Indian Air Force or the Indian Navy and who have served the army for 10 years will also be eligible to apply, a defence ministry statement said.
 
Similarly children of Military Nursing Services and Army Postal Service personnel who have served in the army for 10 years are also eligible, the statement.
 
Admissions will be based on a common entrance test to be conducted by the university. ACMS will call the short-listed candidates in July for counselling.
 
After completing the course, the students will have to join as short service commission officers in the Army Medical Corps.
